Developing an Indigenous Cultural Safety Learning Pathway for Pediatric Rehabilitation Practitioners Health
Indigenous children, families, and communities continue to experience trauma and harm because of colonization. This is especially evident in health care systems. Rehabilitation providers must work towards equitable and safer practices in service delivery. Currently, there are no recommended or consistent approaches across rehabilitation training programs to support culturally safer care. This project aims to fill that gap by developing a learning pathway for rehabilitation practitioners at the Rehabilitation Centre for Children and Manitoba Possible. A learning pathway includes steps that a person can work through on their own or with a group. Collaborating with Knowledge Keepers, researchers, healthcare providers, and families, this project will help support rehabilitation practitioners to deliver culturally safer care.
