Café Scientifique Online
UM Café Scientifiques bring together experts with non-researchers (you, me, neighbours and friends) in a relaxed atmosphere (wherever you are joining us from virtually!), to learn about their research and the questions it raises. Cafés are scheduled throughout the academic year, on a weeknight, and encompass topics that reflect the breadth of research underway at the UM. They are hosted and organized by the Office of the Vice-President (Research and International).
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is known as “Canada’s disease” because we are home to the world’s highest prevalence of MS. Each day, 11 individuals are diagnosed with MS in Canada, who will live with MS for decades. Diagnosis and treatment of MS remains challenging, mainly because MS is a complex and multifactorial disease. Our multidisciplinary panel consists of physicians and scientists with diverse expertise in MS epidemiology, diagnosis, genomics, pathogenesis, treatment development and safety. We will provide a timely update on exciting advances in MS treatments and the ongoing innovative research in Manitoba that provide hope for individuals affected by MS.
